SEQUIM –– Sequim School Board member Sarah Bedinger will step down from her position representing the western side of the school district next month.
Bedinger, 46, told her School Board colleagues during their regular meeting Tuesday night she will resign from the board June 16, noting that her youngest child will graduate soon from Sequim High School.
“I feel it’s time for someone new to step in,” Bedinger said.
She is currently serving her third term on the School Board.
She was first elected in 2003, when she defeated incumbent David McHugh. She beat challenger Stuart McColl in 2007 and was re-elected unopposed in 2011.
The board will discuss the next steps in replacing Bedinger at its meeting
June 2.
The board’s policy on replacing directors and an application form for appointment are posted on the school district’s website at http://tinyurl.com/PDN-boardapp.
