SEQUIM — The Sequim School Board will consider raising the price of school meals and will receive a report on the status of the district’s “highly capable” education program at tonight’s meeting.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. for a draft budget workshop, followed by the 7 p.m. meeting at the Sequim High School library, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
Proposed prices for breakfasts would increase from $1.20 to $1.30 for elementary school students, $1.30 to $1.40 for middle school and from $1.40 to $1.50 for high school.
Lunch prices would increase from $2.10 to $2.25 for elementary, $2.25 to $2.45 for middle school and from $2.30 to $2.50 for high school.
The board will also hear a report on the status of the district’s “highly capable” program.
Highly capable students are defined by the state as “those who perform or show potential for performing at significantly advanced academic levels when compared with others of their age, experiences or environments.”
State law requires all school districts to define and implement a highly capable program by the beginning of the 2014-15 school year.
The school board will also discuss filling the seat of departing school board member Sarah Bedinger.
They will meet at 5 p.m. July 21 to interview board candidates.
