SEQUIM — By using state Initiative 728 money to maintain current class sizes, the School District may be able to rehire teachers previously notified they would not have jobs during the 2001-02 school year.
“This proposal still represents an overall certificated staff reduction of six full-time teachers,” Superintendent Mike Joyner said during Monday’s School Board meeting.
The board, with some reluctance, approved Joyner’s tentative plan to spend $445,000 of the anticipated state I-728 funds for class size reduction, early childhood intervention and extended learning opportunities.
