SEQUIM — The Sequim School District Board of Directors announced Monday that three finalists for the superintendent’s position have been chosen.
Sheldon Berman of Eugene, Ore., Joe Potts of Kent and Heather Davis Schmidt of Missoula, Mont., will be interviewed today, Wednesday and Thursday.
Berman will visit the district today and participate in a public forum from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Sequim High School library, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
Potts will then visit Wednesday with Schmidt coming Thursday.
On Friday, the board will go into executive session to make their decision.
The new superintendent is expected assume the post July 1.
The search for a new schools superintendent officially began in mid-March, with the School Board hiring a private search firm to oversee the process.
McPherson & Jacobson LLC — based out of Omaha, Neb. — is being paid $9,000 for its services by the district.
The district is in need of a new superintendent to succeed Patrick Kelly Shea, who is leaving June 30 to become superintendent of the East Valley School District in Spokane Valley.
Shea has been Sequim superintendent since March 23, 2012, and was also hired after being vetted by McPherson & Jacobson.
