SEQUIM — Walt Schubert will continue to lead the Sequim City Council as mayor for the next two years.
Schubert was re-elected Wednesday by a unanimous vote of council members. No one else was nominated.
“It’s a joy to serve this council, this city and the city staff,” Schubert said last week in a phone interview.
“It’s really been one of the greatest things that’s ever happened in my life,” he said.
Schubert, 63, was first elected to the City Council in 1999 to fill a vacancy.
He then ran successfully for a full elected term in 2001 and was chosen to be mayor by the council in 2002.
Schubert and his wife, Sherry, own and operate Action Property Management in Sequim.
