SEQUIM — A land use appeals case challenging the development of a regional shopping center in the city’s west end will be heard in Clallam County and not in Seattle.
King County Superior Court Judge Douglas McBroom on Friday ordered a change of venue in the case of citizens group Sequim First against the city of Sequim and AVB Development Partners.
McBroom agreed with Sequim City Attorney Craig Ritchie, who argued that land use cases ought to be heard in the county where the dispute originated so area residents have better access to the proceedings.
“This is good for us,” Ritchie said after the decision.
“It’s especially good for the people it affects — the citizens of Sequim — no matter what side of the issue they’re on.”
