SEQUIM — A Clallam County Superior Court judge may rule soon on a land-use case challenging the permitting of a regional shopping center proposed for the city’s west side.
After hearing two hours of oral argument during a well-attended trial Monday, Judge George Wood told attorneys for petitioner Sequim First, a citizens group, and respondents AVB Development Partners and the city of Sequim that he would make it a priority to read the more than 3,000 pages of record submitted by all parties before issuing a ruling in the case.
The case, filed last September, is an appeal of the City Council’s decision upholding initial permitting for AVB, the Arizona-based developer, to build a village-themed shopping center anchored by a Home Depot home improvement warehouse near the intersection of West Washington Street and River Road.
The 395,000-square-foot center would be named Sequim Village Marketplace.
