SEQUIM — Environmental impacts, increased traffic and concern about the depth of studies relating to a proposed regional shopping center highlighted a Planning Commission meeting Tuesday.
AVB Developers of Scottsdale, Ariz., is proposing a 12-building, 395,000-square-foot shopping center on about 42 acres of land on the south side of Washington Street near Priest Road.
Home Depot and Albertsons Food and Drug could be two of the anchor tenants for the complex.
Nine of the 12 people scheduled to speak during the public meeting spoke against approval of the binding site plan for a regional shopping center.
One of the major concerns was the impact of traffic on side roads — Priest, Hendrickson and Kendall, all north of project site.
