SEQUIM — There’s a $70,000 question brewing about materials used for underground installation as part of the North Sequim Avenue renovation earlier this year.
Clallam Public Utility District No. 1 General Manger Dennis Bickford and City Manager Bill Elliott agree someone owes the utility district $70,000.
Not true says George Peabody Jr., foreman for Lakeside Industries of Port Angeles, the general contractor for the job.
Peabody said the construction contract called for the utility district to pay the cost of materials.
Lakeside was awarded the $1.12 million job and sub-contracted the underground utility work to Olympic Electric of Port Angeles.
It may take some time to sort out the details of why the money isn’t already sitting the utility district’s bank account, according to Elliott.
