SEQUIM — Robert Spinks was sworn in Tuesday morning as Sequim’s new police chief in front of friends, family members, former chiefs of police and law enforcement officials from Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Spinks, 46, succeeds Ken Burge, who left in September to take a police chief job in Tennessee.
His first day on the job was Monday.
“We’ve been a long time in the process, and it’s good to finally get to this point,” said City Manager Bill Elliott in remarks before Tuesday’s swearing-in.
Spinks and Elliott praised police Sgts. Sean Madison and Sheri Crain, who ran the department in the interim. Spinks noted that he’s taking the reins of a department already in good shape.
“I’m blessed with receiving a group of professionals who, over the past few months, I’ve come to respect already,” he said.
