America’s 225th birthday will be celebrated Sunday in Sequim, instead of on July 4.
The Museum and Arts Center will sponsor an old-fashioned community picnic in Carrie Blake Park.
The Sequim celebration is planned early so it does not compete with celebrations in Port Angeles and Forks.
“We want the entire community to join us for an exciting, fun-filled day in the park,” event coordinator Bette Leffle said. “We’ll have flags, music and good food. Even though we’re celebrating a few days early, the spirit of patriotism will be alive and well.”
A patriotic program, under the direction of Ted Cordua is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Several military veterans, including a bugler, are expected to take part in the ceremony.
