SEQUIM — A 21-year-old transient has been arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run driving in connection with a Nov. 25 Sequim-area crash that left a 17-year-old girl injured, a Clallam County sheriff’s deputy said.
Benjamin Franklin Dechenne, whose most recent address was given as Bellingham, was arrested and booked Friday afternoon in the Clallam County jail, said Deputy Dave Ellefson, who made the arrest.
Dechenne is charged with fleeing the scene of the crash on Happy Valley Road near South Third Avenue south of Sequim, Ellefson said.
Dechenne was expected to be arraigned Monday before Clallam County Superior Court Judge Ken Williams, a court clerk said.
Dechenne is alleged to have been the driver of a 1995 Chrysler that crashed through a fence and into a tree just after midnight Nov. 25.
