SEQUIM – Sequim’s fresh-faced City Council, which already accelerated swearing in its new members, will choose a new mayor Friday morning.
The special meeting will start at 11 a.m. in the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
New members Laura Dubois, Ken Hays, Erik Erichsen and Susan Lorenzen took their oath of office on Wednesday morning. The ceremony originally had been scheduled for mid-January.
That’s also when they were set to hold their first meeting.
Instead, they’ll gather Friday, and the first agenda item is electing a mayor.
Incumbent Mayor Walt Schubert, who’s headed the council for six years, said he’ll continue only with the support of the four new members.
He doesn’t have it, Lorenzen has said.
