PORT ANGELES — U.S. Bancorp Foundation has awarded $2,500 to Serenity House of Clallam County’s prevention-of-homelessness services for local families who face housing crises.
Lisa Meyer, U.S. Bank assistant vice president and manager of the Port Angeles branch, delivered the contribution Tuesday, said Kathy Wahto, executive director of Serenity House.
The previous day, U.S. Bank employees delivered backpacks full of back-to-school supplies as part of a community project to equip for educational success children whose families are housed through Serenity House Family Services programs.
Meyer, who is current president of the Clallam County United Way board of directors, will lead a crew of volunteers from U.S. Bank in performing a Day of Caring project Saturday, Sept. 8, at Serenity House’s C Street family shelter and housing facility.
For at least 11 years, U.S. Bank has regularly supported Serenity House’s work to end homelessness in Clallam County, Meyer said.
“I feel really good about helping Serenity House monetarily, by volunteering and by advocating,” she said.
“We are all very outcomes-oriented and have clients in common.”
U.S. Bank offers entry-level accounts into which benefits can be directly deposited and that cannot be overdrawn, enabling people coming out of homelessness to build banking skills, she said.
Serenity House, founded in 1982, is a community-based private nonprofit agency dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness in Clallam County.
