PORT ANGELES — Project Homeless Connect will offer no-cost help for those without a home or in danger of losing their home during the fair at the Vern Burton Community Center today.
The fair at the center at 308 E. Fourth St. will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to agencies that help with housing, guests can connect with more than 40 other services and resources, including hot meals, clothing and hygiene supplies.
Vision screenings
Optometrist Cynthia Bidegary will do vision screenings in the morning.
For a second year, two mobile units will provide services. Pain-relief dentistry will be available in the SmileMobile, and the state Department of Social and Health Services mobile office will process benefit claims.
The haircutting area will be staffed by a barber and two hairstylists.
Visitors should not bring their pets unless they have no safe place to put them, said services coordinator Debbie Tesch.
No veterinary services
“We will have an outdoor pet-sitting area where volunteers will look after pets while their owners are inside, but we have not been able to arrange for veterinary services this year,” she said.
Clallam County Homeless Outreach is organizing the fair. It is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff.
It incorporated as a tax-deductible nonprofit in 2012 to organize the local annual service expo and other outreach activities.
