PORT ANGELES — A 22-year-old man accused of participating in a shooting at Shane Park more than 15 months ago accepted a plea bargain earlier this week that may keep him out of prison.
Edward K. Perez pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery Tuesday in Clallam County Superior Court.
He had faced an additional charge of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
As part of the plea deal, Perez will testify in the trial of his alleged accomplice, Andraees L. Henderson, next month.
The county Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has agreed to recommend a sentence of six months of electronic home monitoring and 12 months of community supervision.
The standard range for the crime is 2.25 to 6.75 months, according to court documents.
According to police, Perez and Henderson confronted Michael Rosche, who was sitting in a car at about 1 a.m. Oct. 2, 2009, at the park.
Henderson “opened the door and began assaulting him,” demanding money, according to a police probable-cause statement.
Rosche resisted, and Henderson shot him in the right wrist and left knee, police said.
Rosche was treated and released from Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
Henderson, 20, will be tried on second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree assault and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm Feb. 22-23.
