SHINE — The Hood Canal Bridge was closed to traffic for about 45 minutes Friday afternoon when two cars collided on the eastern span.
Two women, a mother and daughter from Edmonds, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Emily R. Ranta, 17, was driving a 1991 Mercedes Benz toward Kitsap County when she lost control just east of the middle of the bridge around 3:30 p.m., State Patrol Trooper Gabriel L. Fletcher said.
Her car crossed into oncoming traffic, striking the guardrail on the opposite side of the road, before crashing into a 2003 Ford pickup, Fletcher said.
Ranta and her 37-year-old mother, Sonia Ranta, were transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
