The troublesome eastern span of the Hood Canal Bridge was stuck open Wednesday afternoon, but crews quickly fixed the problem.
In fact, most delayed motorists traveling the state Highway 104 route probably didn’t notice anything was wrong.
The draw bridge opened about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for marine traffic and was closed 34 minutes later.
“That is about the same time as a typical marine opening,” Department of Transportation spokesman Lloyd Brown said.
The 43-year-old half of the bridge on the Kitsap County side has become stuck open before and has taken hours to fix in some instances. After 2007, engineers fear the span could become completely unreliable.
A $204 million project is under way to build a new eastern half and refurbish the 22-year-old western span.
