From the Coast Guard today:
NEAH BAY – The Coast Guard responded to a fishing vessel taking on water near Neah Bay today.
At 11:35 p.m. Saturday, the Coast Guard received a report that the 40-foot fishing vessel Sundown was taking on water and was in need of assistance.
The crew aboard the fishing vessel Vicious Fisher assisted the crew of the Sundown before the Coast Guard arrived.
An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Port Angeles and two 47-foot MLB — motor lifeboat crews — from Coast Guard Station Neah Bay were sent to assist.
A Coast Guardsmen and the Sundown’s captain are the only people now aboard. Five dewatering pumps were needed to bring the flooding under control.
The crew of the Vicious Fisher is towing the Sundown back to Neah Bay with the two MLB crews following along for safety.
