PORT TOWNSEND — Six Port Townsend suspects arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 26-year-old man will be arraigned at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Jefferson County Superior Court.
Visiting Clallam County Superior Court Judge Ken Williams on Friday ordered a 72-hour hold during the suspects’ initial hearing after they acknowledged their rights and public defenders were assigned to their cases.
Held in Jefferson County jail in connection with the stabbing of transient Tomas Hezina are Ryan Baker, 19; Ryan Hausenfluck, 19; Kelle Farfan, 20; James Hansen, 18; and Camron Jevne, 19.
Hezina, who was scheduled to undergo a second surgery this weekend, was listed in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was airlifted early Thursday morning from Jefferson Healthcare hospital after receiving emergency room treatment.
Woman arrested in case
Also arrested Thursday night and held in connection with the case is Toni Farris, 28, of Port Townsend, who Police Chief Conner Daily said could face obstruction of justice charges for her alleged role in the incident.
Daily said Friday that Farris’ Logan Street home was searched for the knife used in the stabbing. The weapon was not found, he said.
Farris’ arrest followed interviews with the other five suspects, Daily said.
Although first-degree assault charges are being considered against the five men, Williams ordered the hold so investigators and deputy county prosecutor could sort out the details of their findings.
“We are just continuing to tie up loose ends and we will still have a car searched this weekend,” said Daily.
The car will be searched in an attempt to find the weapon or weapons allegedly used in the crime.
The car was seen leaving the scene of the crime early Thursday morning, Daily said.
Specific charges could follow once investigators determine the alleged roles of each suspect in connection with the crime, he said.
Another factor in the charges is Hezina’s condition this weekend following his second surgery, according to Daily.
