The Olympic Discovery Trail east of the Rayonier Inc. property in northeast Port Angeles has been closed to through access because of a large slide.

A section of the trail, also known as the Waterfront Trail, between the 2.5-mile and 3.5-mile markers is covered by debris and is impassable, a Port Angeles city spokesperson said today.

The public is asked to stay clear of this area as other slides could occur.

City of Port Angeles Parks Division will be setting up barricades on both sides of the slide area and will be surveying the damage today. More information will be distributed as it become available.
