Small brush fire extinguished in Chimacum

CHIMACUM — A brush fire burned eight-tenths of an acre near the intersection of Center Valley Road and Egg & I Road in Chimacum.

The fire was reported at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday. There were no injuries and no structures were damaged, said Bill Beezley, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue spokesman.

By the time firefighters arrived, the fire, which was initially reported as 20-feet-by-20-feet in size, had spread to eight-tenths of an acre, Beezley said.

It was quickly brought under control and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.

Working on the fire were firefighters from East Jefferson Fire-Rescue, Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue and Quilcene Fire Rescue along with Engine 91 from Naval Magazine Indian Island.
