A small helicopter lies damaged on the ground near the runway at Sequim Valley Airport on Wednesday.
Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Ralph Edgington, who responded to a 5 p.m. 9-1-1 call, said the pilot was uninjured.
Mike Fergus, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Northwest Mountain Region, said the helicopter had two people on board while hovering and it struck the ground and overturned. Fergus said one person sustained a minor injury.
Both the pilot and passenger were unidentified by authorities, but the FAA’s Web site says the craft is a 2008 Rotorway Exec 162F experimental helicopter registered to Richard L. Bielawa of Sequim.
