DUNGENESS — A small aircraft crash-landed on a grass airstrip west of the intersection of Lotzgesell and Kitchen-Dicks roads at 1:15 p.m. today.
No one was hurt.
Neither the pilot nor the flight instructor in the two-seat, single-engine plane had been identified as of this afternoon.
The pilot said he was making a precautionary landing after a leak developed in the right fuel tank.
“It appears we lost lift,” said the pilot, who would not provide his name.
The plane missed a 100-foot bluff by 30 yards as it landed on the private airstrip in the community west of the Dungeness Recreation
Area.
Both the prop and the landing gear were bent on the Van’s Air Force plane that the pilot said he had purchased about a week ago.
