TACOMA — A 3.0-magnitude earthquake occurred 17 miles below the surface shortly after noon today in the Fife area.
University of Washington seismologists said the epicenter was about 5.5 miles north-northeast of Tacoma. There were no reports of damage or injury.
The tiny temblor struck at 12:29 p.m., the seismologists said.
A quake of magnitude 2.5 to 3 is the smallest generally felt by people.
