PORT TOWNSEND — Sheriff Mike Brasfield announced Thursday that 13-year veteran Barbara Garrett will be assigned to the South County Annex in Quilcene on Sept. 1.
Garrett is replacing Deputy Debbie Kronk who retired on Aug. 1.
Kronk is quoted in a statement issued by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office as saying: “Barb Garrett is an outstanding choice to fill the South County position.
“She brings a wealth of talent and experience to the job.
“She really cares about the community and kids, and I look forward to providing any assistance that I can.”
Garrett has a particular interest in young people, the sheriff reports in the statement issued Thursday.
She has been involved with the D.A.R.E. program and with the Law Enforcement Cadet program.
“The Sheriff’s Office has received positive feedback regarding Barb’s efforts over the years from the various county school districts,” according to the statement.
“The Quilcene community, in particular, has provided compliments on behalf of Deputy Garrett over the last several years.”
