Workers slowly guide a 200-ton, 78-foot-long boat onto a grid, where it will remain for about two months while finishing work is performed.
The five-hour move from the 4 Corners area in Jefferson County in the pre-dawn hours on Sunday involved planning and support from various agencies, including the state Department of Transportation, State Patrol and various public utilities, which removed power lines and turned off traffic lights along the route.
The boat, which will be named Captain Alaska, according to owner Evan Hall of Bellingham, is a salmon tender and will be working the waters off Alaska.
The move was completed by OXBO Mega Transport Solutions from Scappoose, Ore. Planning started about a year ago and the final details took about three months to complete.
