Stories, luncheons, lectures and, of course, hugs, are planned for Mother’s Day on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Mom’s luncheon set
PORT ANGELES — A “Let’s Celebrate Moms” luncheon will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 510 E. Park Ave., from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $15 per person or $25 for two and are available at the church.
Entertainer Charlie Ferris will play, door prizes will be given and guests may have 4-by-6-inch photos taken with their special ladies.

Sanelli speaks
PORT ANGELES — Author and performer Mary Lou Sanelli will present “Mothers & Daughters: Breathe In, Breathe Out” at the Port Angeles Library tonight.
The free program will be at 7 p.m. at the library at 2210 S. Peabody St.
Sanelli has authored numerous books of poetry and essays and is a monthly Port Townsend columnist for the Peninsula Daily News.
She is in the process of caring for her elderly mother and has invited Rhonda Curry, assistant administrator of strategic marketing and communications at Olympic Medical Center — and a local mom — to participate by reading a piece she has prepared for the occasion.
Sanelli also will sign copies of her newest book, Among Friends.

PORT TOWNSEND
Talk about Mom
PORT TOWNSEND –Mother’s Day Stories is the topic of the First Friday Storynight event at Better Living Through Coffee, 100 Tyler St., from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.
Deborah Shomer and Aimee Ringle will share stories and myths in the various ways that the idea of “Mother” means to them.
The public can share stories during the open mic portion of the event.

‘Cats of Mirikitani’
PORT TOWNSEND — “The Cats of Mirikitani” will be screened in a special Mother’s Day matinee on Sunday.
The showing of the film, a former Port Townsend Film Festival favorite, will be followed by an audience discussion with director Linda Hattendorf.
The film, which features street artist Jimmy Mirikitani, will be shown at 1 p.m. at the Rose Theatre.
After the film, Hattendorf will answer questions and tell how her life and Jimmy Mirikitani’s have changed since she created her film.
Tickets are $15 from the Port Townsend Film Festival, which is hosting the event, and at Quimper Sound, 230 Taylor St., Port Townsend.

Hugs for Mom
FORKS — The Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave., will host a “Hugs for Mom” story time for children ages 3 to 5 at noon today.
The free event will include stories, music and a craft project that kids can share with Mom.

Mother’s Day meal
FORKS — The Forks Elks Lodge plans a Mother’s Day breakfast Sunday.
The breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the lodge at 941 Merchant Road.
The cost $7 per person, $5 for seniors.
