FORKS — The state Department of Transportation will raise the speed limit on U.S. Highway 101 near Wisen Creek on Monday.
The speed limit was reduced to 25 mph earlier this year during work to replace a culvert under the highway.
While the work on the culvert has been paused for the rest of the year, the speed limit between mileposts 208.8 and 209.88 will be raised to 40 mph, according to a WSDOT press release.
The temporary speed limit reduction was necessary due to the temporary roadway configuration, WSDOT said.
The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph next spring, when work resumes, and it will be restored to 60 mph upon project completion, which is currently scheduled for next fall.
