NEAH BAY — The state Ecology Department says the rescue tug at Neah Bay assisted a 100-foot fishing boat that ran aground near Neah Bay.

The tug Hunter used a line to pull the vessel Misty Dawn into deeper water. There was no fuel spill.

Saturday’s assist was the 43rd time a state-funded tug has been called out to assist a vessel in distress.

A tug now funded by the maritime industry is stationed year around at Neah Bay to help prevent oil and fuel spills on Washington’s coast and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Crowley holds the contract through next June.
