OLYMPIA — State employees who work for nearly 50 state agencies, boards or commissions will take an unpaid furlough day on Tuesday.
Tuesday is the third state furlough day to save payroll costs across state government.
The Legislature approved 10 days of furloughs for most state workers to save $73 million in 2010-2011.
Public health and safety workers are exempt. They include state troopers, prison guards and child protection workers.
The state plans Oct. 11 and Dec. 27 furlough days and five more in 2011.
