State’s new ferry breaks down, fixed; runs out of Port Townsend resume

PORT TOWNSEND–Two round-trip sailings of the MV Chetzemoka were canceled this morning after a split exhaust valve was discovered on the No. 2 engine during a routine overnight maintenance check.

The repairs were completed by the engineering crew and the 9:30 sailing was the first of the day.

The 6:30 and 8 a.m. sailings were canceled, as were the 7:15 and 8:30 a.m. Coupeville departures.

The repair process included a sea trial, according to Washington State Ferry spokesperson Marta Coursey.
