Strawberry shortcake sales set for noon today (Sunday)

Public safety issue only delayed fundraiser a day

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Farmers Market’s strawberry shortcake fundraiser was interrupted on Saturday, but it was only been delayed a day.

The market was closed on Saturday because of the discovery of a suspicious package, which was later found to be non-threatening. That also stopped the markets’s annual fundraiser of selling the sweet treat.

But sales of strawberry shortcake will go on at noon today (Sunday) in the Red Lion Hotel parking lot at 221 N. Lincoln St., according to an announcement from the market.

Sales of the treat by First Street Haven Restaurant and Pane d’Amore Bakery will continue as long as supplies last.

Proceeds support the farmers market.
