SEQUIM — The city put on its best face Saturday for the 107th annual Sequim Irrigation Festival parade.
The weather police were nowhere in sight as sunny skies beamed down on the more than 15,000 people lining the streets to watch.
“This was the biggest crowd in my three years, and it was the best weather we’ve had,” said festival chairwoman Pat McCauley of the sunny, 60-degree day.
“I think people were tired of the icky weather and wanted to take advantage of how good it was today.”
Sequim Police Chief Byron Nelson credited the warmer weather with swelling the size of the crowd.
“This was the largest crowd I’ve seen — there were a lot of people” said Nelson. “It was an incredible crowd.”
