“Survivor: Fiji” wrapped up on May 14 with Earl Cole, a 35-year-old advertising executive from Santa Monica, Calif., beating out competitors for the $1 million prize.

Now the producers are looking for next year’s 16-or-so contestants.

The actual number will be determined after the auditions.

Anyone can enter to be part of the new season’s show – which will be filmed at an undisclosed remote location – by sending in an application and a video.

Applications must arrive in Santa Monica, Calif., by 5 p.m. on July 17.

Those who go to the open auditions will have applications and videos submitted for them.

That simplifies the process of applying, because the station will film and send in the video.

Contestants must be at least 21 years old, American citizens and live in the United States.

Each hopeful must also have a current passport, and cannot be a candidate for public office.

Videos cannot be longer than three minutes.

At the open auditions, contestants will be allotted 60 seconds in front of the camera.

All contestants must be in excellent physical and mental health, according to the show’s rules.

Judges also will look for contestants who are strong-willed, outgoing, adventurous and adaptable, and who have interesting lifestyles, backgrounds and personalities.

Producers encourage those auditioning to use their time in front of the camera to show how they will stand out and how they are different.

In the past, some contestants have dressed up or shown film clips of their lives.

About 800 applicants will be invited for a second interview in August at several regional locations.

The interviews for those living in Washington area will be in Seattle.

The filming of the show is expected in late October to mid-December 2007.

Contestants must be willing to dedicate the seven weeks to the show.

Applications are available online at www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor_application/index.shtml.

Applications and videos must be mailed to 2801 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica, Calif. 90405.
