Neither the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office nor the Port Townsend Police Department is currently using Tasers, but deputies and officers will soon have them available.
They won’t be the new, hi-tech model recently acquired by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Mike Brasfield said the new Tasers that will be used by the two Jefferson County agencies came from the Lynnwood Police Department.
Brasfield and Conner Daily, deputy police chief for Port Townsend, said policies and procedures need to be established and officers must be trained before the Tasers are put into service.
Brasfield said expects the process will take about two months.
