Ten Forward Internet customers lose e-mail access, gain new domain name

PORT ANGELES – About 800 customers of Ten Forward, a Port Angeles-based Internet service provider, lost e-mail access over Memorial Day weekend and have since had to change their e-mail addresses.

Company owners said the weekend problems were caused by legal – not financial – issues, contrary to rumors they said they have heard around town.

“I guess it’s because we tell people it’s a legal issue, then don’t give them any details – and we can’t really, not yet,” said Rose Sanders, who owns the company with her husband, Roger.

“We don’t want to speak on anything that could ruin our chances in a successful lawsuit.”

E-mail was restored late Saturday, albeit through a new domain name – tfon.com – that is registered to the company.

As a result, all customer e-mail addresses that ended in tenforward.com now end in tfon.com.

The company has suggested that customers send mass e-mails to let friends and family know about the change.

The Internet service provider’s e-mail service went down Friday when its domain name tenforward.com, was revoked by a communications company based in Maryland.
