Three transported to hospitals after rollover collision

JOYCE — Three people were taken to hospitals after a single-car rollover collision.

A 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on state Highway 112 at milepost 52 at Bishop Road about 3:23 a.m. Wednesday when it left the road onto the right shoulder. It jumped a driveway, struck a tree and then rolled before it came to rest on its top in a ditch, the State Patrol said.

Drugs or alcohol were suspected, the State Patrol said.

Stephen D. Blake, 57, of Port Angeles and Cierra D. Stratfull, 28, of Port Angeles both were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Jason M. Rutherford, 42, of Port Angeles was transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, the State Patrol said.

Blake was in serious condition on Thursday, Harborview spokesperson Barbara Clements said. Stratfull was released from the emergency room on Wednesday, Clements said.

Stratfull was a passenger in the vehicle. The role of the driver was still under investigation, the State Patrol said.

All three people were not wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.

The vehicle, which was totally destroyed, was taken to the Washington State Patrol bullpen in Port Angeles, the agency said.
