PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department employee Eli Hammel hoists a cut branch from the downtown Christmas tree onto a truck for eventual composting Thursday at the Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain.
Workers sliced limbs from the tree for compost, and trunk slices were to be offered back to the private citizen who donated the tree.
Light strings, which needed to be snipped from the branches, were slated for disposal.
