PORT ANGELES — U.S. Highway 101 traffic will be switched onto the new southern lanes between Port Angeles and Sequim sometime Wednesday, state Department of Transportation officials said.
The northern lanes will be closed to allow crews to put down a layer of asphalt.
Crews also will build new median access points along the 3.5-mile corridor between Kitchen-Dick and Shore roads.
Wednesday’s switch is the latest in a series of traffic alterations needed for the $27.1 million construction project to widen the highway two lanes in both directions between Port Angeles and Sequim.
