UPDATE: Trees on power lines cause power outage in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Three trees falling on power lines late this afternoon caused an electrical outage that put traffic lights out of commission on Eighth Street at its intersections with Cherry and Peabody streets.

At 6:30 p.m., about 100 customers in west Port Angeles are without power, said James Burke, assistant deputy director of Public Works for Port Angeles.

Power is expected to be restored by 10:30 p.m.

The trees fell at about 5:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Valley Street.
