PORT ANGELES — The attempted murder and assault trial of a Silverdale man accused of shooting a sheriff’s deputy has been indefinitely postponed.
Scott Lincoln Davis must undergo a mental health evaluation before he stands trial.
Davis, 59, is still in custody at the Clallam County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Davis is held on investigation of attempted murder and assault of Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Cortani.
Cortani was investigating a trespassing call west of Sekiu when he and Davis had a shoot-out.
Davis was to go on trial on Monday, but his attorney Harry Gasnick filed to have it postponed while Davis is evaluated at Western State Hospital.
A status hearing to review any results of an evaluation is set for April 24.
