That means you shut down your engine, float for awhile and keep watch quietly and respectfully.
Your reward are glimpses of magnificence.
You’re in the House of Orca, the black-and-white killer whales of Free Willy and Shamu fame.
These benevolent salmon-eaters live in researcher Pods J, K and L in the Haro Strait that divides San Juan and Vancouver islands.
And they are the highlight of the ride aboard the 65-foot Glacier Spirit, operating daily between Port Townsend’s Point Hudson Marina and Friday Harbor.
