Truck rollover disrupts traffic on 101 near Lake Crescent

OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — Both lanes of U.S. Highway 101 at a point between East Beach and Barnes Point are expected to be closed between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. today while the highway is cleared after a semi-truck rolled over earlier this afternoon.

The truck with a trailer containing crushed cars rolled over at about 2:30 p.m., said Olympic National Park spokeswoman Rainey McKenna.

No injuries were reported.

The rollover blocked all lanes briefly near the east end of Lake Crescent until the eastbound lane was opened shortly after 3 p.m. for alternating traffic, McKenna said.

Both lanes will be closed at the rollover site for about two hours tonight while the crushed cars were removed by a tow truck, McKenna said.

Vehicles will be rerouted to state Highway 112 by state Department of Transportation and State Patrol personnel while the road was being cleared, she said.

A spill of engine fluids at the rollover had been contained as of 3:30 p.m., McKenna said.
