Two airlifted after motorcycle vs. car wreck near Quilcene

PORT ANGELES — One person was treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and a second was discharged after both were airlifted Wednesday morning following a motorcycle versus car collision on U.S. Highway 101 at Quilcene Fish Hatchery Road, according to a State Patrol collision memo.

A 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by David E. Brueggeman, 65, of East Troy, Wis., was northbound on U.S. Highway 101 at Quilcene Fish Hatchery Road about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, the memo stated.

A 2021 Toyota Camry driven by Anne T. Schoendorf, 62, of Freeport, Fla., slowed to turn left onto Quilcene Fish Hatchery Road and was struck from behind by Brueggeman’s motorcycle, the memo stated.

Both David E. Brueggeman and his passenger, Jocielyn T. Brueggeman, 32, of Sturtevant, Wis., were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, the memo stated. Both were wearing helmets.

David Brueggeman was listed in satisfactory condition on Friday morning and Jocielyn Brueggeman had been discharged.

Schoendorf was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

David Brueggeman was cited for following too closely. Brueggeman’s motorcycle was destroyed. Schoendorf’s Camry sustained reportable damage. Drugs or alcohol were not involved.
