PORT TOWNSEND — Justin Clouse and Trevor Bergen of East Jefferson Fire-Rescue have completed the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center Paramedic Training Program.
They and 13 other paramedic students from around the Puget Sound region had more than 2,500 hours of training each under the direction of University of Washington and Harborview faculty and physicians.
The training program is supported entirely through charitable contributions to the Medic One Foundation, which ensures that paramedic students receive more than twice the number of training hours of most programs, said Jan Sprake, foundation executive director.
In addition, students come in contact with more than 700 patients — three times the national average, Sprake said.
