PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has been charged with two counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
Curt Ellie Croston, 72, was arrested May 28 for investigation of second-degree rape, unlawful imprisonment and unlawful possession of a firearm.
A 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl reported sexual assaults, and a 24-year old woman reported that he attempted to lure her into his truck, police said.
Those accusations are still under investigation, said Michele Devlin, Clallam County chief criminal deputy prosecuting attorney, who declined further comment Friday.
Two shotguns
Croston is not allowed to possess firearms because of a 1987 conviction of second-degree assault, police said.
Police officers said they found two shotguns in Croston’s home when he was arrested, according to court papers.
Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly set bail at $50,000 in Croston’s initial court appearance May 29.
Croston was released from the Clallam County jail on his own recognizance after the firearm charges were filed Tuesday.
No date has been set for arraignment.
