PORT ANGLES — Two women were injured Thursday when the car they were traveling in was struck by an SUV on U.S. Highway 101 east of Port Angeles, the State Patrol said.
Jing Qing, 23, of Federal Way and Yuning Lin, age and city of residence unknown, were taken to Olympic Medical Center after the 2015 BMW X3 that Qing was driving was struck by a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Dixie C. Christensen, 65, of Sequim near the intersection of Old Olympic Highway, troopers said in a collision memo.
Qing and Lin were not listed on the OMC patient census as of 4:52 p.m. Thursday, a nursing supervisor said.
According to the State Patrol, Christensen was traveling eastbound when she attempted an illegal left turn and struck the BMW, causing the car to overturn, at about 11:36 a.m.
Both vehicles came to a rest in the westbound side of the highway.
Christensen was not injured, troopers said. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
All three travelers were wearing seat belts, and neither drugs nor alcohol was involved, according to the collision memo.
The State Patrol said charges are pending.
