PORT ANGELES — A man and woman were arrested on methamphetamine-related charges Monday morning at a rundown home that the building department condemned later that day.
A juvenile at the residence in the 100 block of Motor Avenue also was brought to Clallam County Family & Juvenile Services on an outstanding warrant, said Jason Viada, narcotics team supervisor for the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team. Details on the warrant were not available.
Richard C. Bishop, 40, and Tonia M. Bish, 36, were arrested without incident at about 8 a.m. and booked in the Clallam County jail for investigation of delivery of methamphetamine and investigation of delivery of a controlled substance in a public place.
Bishop, a felon for a drug violation in Pennsylvania, also was booked for unlawful possession of a firearm for allegedly having a shotgun in his bedroom.
Bishop and Bish were being held without bond Monday afternoon.
Viada said the arrests were made on the basis of three controlled buys to an OPNET informant totalling 12 grams of methamphetamine.
It did not appear that Bishop and Bish were making methamphetamine at the home, which still “was not fit to live in,” Viada said.
The house had makeshift plumbing and wiring, and the kitchen was unusable, he said.
The yard contained vehicle parts, cars without wheels, garbage that had been stacked up and a pit for burning trash.
Viada decided not to bring a police canine to the home to detect if drugs were present.
“I didn’t think it was responsible to put the dog into that environment,” he said.
More than a dozen officers from area law enforcement agencies participated in the arrests.
The city building department posted a no-occupancy notice on the building by early afternoon, city Planning Manager Sue Roberds said.
