TACOMA – Forks’ Miguel Morales joins Port Angeles’ Matt Robbins as the North Olympic Peninsula’s two wrestling state champions.
Morales won the Class 1A heavyweight division by pinning Kiona-Benton’s Tanner Cook 1 minute, 41 seconds into the final match.
Port Angeles heavyweight Roberto Coronel fell 6-0 to Orting’s Hunter Mullin in the 285-pound final.
Forks and Port Angeles both finished fifth in their respective classifications.

TACOMA – Port Angeles’ Matt Robbins becomes the first area wrestler to win a state championship at this year’s Mat Classic.
Robbins earned the Class 2A 195-pound title by defeating Sedro-Woolley’s Nate Vaughn in convincing fashion 4-0 Saturday night at the Tacoma Dome.
Two other North Olympic Peninsula wrestlers have shots at state titles: Port Angeles’ Roberto Coronel and Forks’ Miguel Morales. Both Coronel and Morales are heavyweights.
The Peninsula had six wrestlers qualify for state final matches. The three others who have wrestled so far didn’t fare as well as Robbins.
Forks’ Sebastian Morales was pinned at 3:23 in the 1A 113-pound title match by Vashon’s Chase Wickham.
Port Townsend’s Chloe Rogers was pinned 1:57 into the 140-pound girls final.
In the girls 145-pound match, Forks’ Brooke Peterson fell to Othello’s Tatum Sparks via pin at the one-minute mark.
